Important Features:
○ As previously mentioned, the G Flex houses its key control buttons on its backside, just like the G2. As such, it will feature the KnockOn functionality, which allows you to wake up the handset by tapping on the touch screen twice.
○ The phone’s ‘swing lock screen’ feature makes things interesting by moving the wallpaper in response to a tilting action. It also produces different unlocking effects when different areas of the screen are touched. Users can also pinch from the lock screen to open certain multimedia apps directly.
○ LG has improved functionality on the handset by giving it rear keys as well. The volume rocker and power keys of the phone are placed on its rear panel. This minimizes chances of accidental presses and improves one-handed operation of the handset.
○ The G Flex makes smartphoning even more exciting with LG’s new and improved UX features. QTheater quickly accesses photos, videos and YouTube from the lock screen while Dual Window divides the 6-inch screen into two for multi-tasking. Face Detection Indicator, Camera Timer and Urgent Call also increase the functionality of the handset manifold.
○ Additional new features to LG’s Optimus 3.0 user interface include Q Theater. This lets you view photos and videos directly from the lock screen. There’s also an urgent call alert, which flashes the LED notification light when you miss several calls in a row from the same number, and swing lock screen, which changes the lock screen image depending on how you hold the phone.
○○ According to LG, the curved battery in the G Flex is designed with a technology, which reduces the physical stress on the battery pack when in the curved form and provides better stability
and performance. The LG G Flex battery has a capacity of 3,500mAh. ○○
The G Flex follows news of Samsung releasing its own, albeit horizontally curved, smartphone, known as the Galaxy Round. What do you guys think of this new trend of concave displays, is it neat or ridiculous? Be sure to tell us in the comments below.
